Back in Oregon, virtually, of course. Photos and visit dated June 10th, 2013. Read that again, yes, 2013.
Our day trip continues, next stop near Newport Oregon, the Yaquina Head Lighthouse.
It is a tall one, 81 foot 2 inches above ground level, 162 feet above mean sea level. It can be seen 19 miles out to sea.
The area is also the spring-summer home for thousands of nesting seabirds.

Driving on, next we stopped at the Yaquina Bay Bridge, where I took lots of photos, because I can and because it is such a lovely bridge. Oregon bridges are very special indeed.
The Yaquina Bay Bridge is 3223 feet long with the longest span being 600 feet. Construction began in 1934 as part of a Workers Progress Administration project. It was finished in 1936. It is considered an "arch" bridge. I consider it stunning.
Our last stop of this wonderful day near Newport Oregon was at the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse.
The day is not over, there is Devil's Churn, Spouting Horn, Heceta Head Lighthouse, oh and scenery galore. It will be our last day in the area, next moving up the coast, a stop at Tillamook. Yummy goodies there.
