THE Trip, THE Encore' :: Shadows-On-The-Teche, New Iberia, Louisiana

In the town of New Iberia, is a National Historical Landmark home, Shadows-On-The-Teche, a home built in 1831-1834 for sugarcane planter David Weeks and his wife Mary C. Weeks.  We did not take a tour, just wandered around the property taking photos and enjoying.  We visited November 13, 2012.

There are several pieces of charming statuary around in the gardens:

There were few flowers blooming, but, anytime I find something yellow blooming, I smile.  I'll bet you do too!

The back of the home, well, the side that faced the water, not the street.  Almost as pretty as the front, eh?

Thus ended a delightful day in and around New Iberia Louisiana.   We will head out tomorrow AM heading, of course, further west.  A 2 night stop near Beaumont Texas and then on to Galveston and Jamaica Beach Texas for a quick stop, including a free ferry ride.  Yes, I have photos of Jolly and Tana on that ferry.  Can we say, CLOSE parking??  Yes, we can, come on back soon and I'll show you!
