June 27, 2011 after a wonderful visit to Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Teton National Park, it is time for us to move on. Our route today will take us north on 191 to Bozeman and then, EAST to Billings. Other than our ride from Salton Sea California to Yuma Arizona and then on to Gold Canyon Arizona, I think this is our first turn back east since leaving the stick built in mid November 2010. Last winter's monster snows (4 times the normal snow pack) will keep us from wandering up to say, Glacier National Park, they are still digging out up there from 90 FOOT (not inches) snow drifts on the Going to the Sun Road. So, a little bit reluctantly we make the 230 mile trip to Billings, but, THE Trip is not over yet.
The drive from West Yellowstone to Bozeman is 90 miles give or take. It is beautiful country and there are few buildings, homes, ranches, small towns, it is big and
We had not been on the road long when we encountered a traffic stop near a construction zone. We don't see this in our neck of the woods (southeast Michigan), and in fact, this was one of the first times we encountered this, a real true escort through the construction zone, a pilot car, or in this case, truck. The scenery was well, awesome, breath taking, BIG and WOW!
The next two photos are for our Montana RVing friends, they will totally get this:
MMM, excuse the reflection of Sony and my fingers in the screen of the Acer Iconia tablet. Look closely, that little blue arrow, was were we were, north and east of Big Sky, Montana. OK, I will admit it, I did not realize there was a town named Big Sky in Montana, again, our MOC RVing friends will get this, and probably just shake their heads at me and my silliness.
We really did not see a lot of buildings, but this cluster of barns with good ole barn red paint was very attractive sitting there on this little piece of heaven.
Big country, big snows, big snow fence! And, this one is small, we saw some that seemed to go on for 1/2 mile. Very long! None of that orange plastic stuff out here!

At Bozeman we jump on I 90 and head towards Billings Montana.
We would spend one night in Billings in a campground just a stones throw from the first KOA (Kampgrounds of America) campground in the country. We saw the sign to the campground, but at those rates, we were not going near the place. Maybe we should have stayed there to say we stayed in the first KOA, but, it just was not that important to us, so, snicker, we did not!
*That disclaimer thingy, KOA and Kampgrounds of America did not help with our expenses or pay me a plug nickle to mention them. We have been in the past and probably will be in the future members of KOA value card reward program, which allows us a small discount in their campgrounds. Yep, we pay for our value card membership and all our camping fees, they get mentioned, they own the copyrights, and all that other stuff.

Truly big country! Spectacular. Husband lived in MT for several years and adored it. For me, well, someplace to visit.
